Waste Classifications
A waste classification (also known as a waste disposal) is required when applying to take non-liquid waste (such as soil, sediment, and fill material) to a Waste Receivable Facility/landfill site, and is commonly required when disposing of waste soil. Facilities are licensed to accept certain classes of waste only. Currently, six waste classes are used: Special Waste, Liquid Waste, Hazardous Waste, Restricted Solid Waste, General Solid Waste (putrescibles), General Solid Waste (non-putrescibles). Waste Receivable facilities will not accept waste without a Waste Classification Report.
